The Mahabodhi Temple is one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. Located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, it marks the exact place where Siddhartha Gautama attained Enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree more than 2,500 years ago.
Originally built by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE, the temple complex is a masterpiece of ancient Indian architecture. The main stupa rises about 55 meters.
