Overview

Mahavir Mandir is a magnificent Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located in the heart of Patna, Bihar. Millions of pilgrims visit this temple annually. The temple is famous for its unique double statues of Lord Hanuman standing side-by-side (one to fulfill good wishes and the other to ward off evil). The temple trust runs massive charity hospitals, kitchens offering free meals (bhajan/bhandara), and prepares the GI-tagged "Naivedyam" laddoos.

History & Origins

The temple was originally established in the 18th century by Ramanandi sect ascetics. It gained wide prominence and underwent a massive marble renovation in 1983 led by Kishore Kunal.

Spiritual Significance

Revered as a wish-fulfilling temple of Bajrangbali. It houses a floating stone from the Ram Setu bridge in a glass urn.

Cultural Significance

A center of religious philanthropy in Bihar, funding major cancer research and general hospitals. Massive celebrations take place on Ram Navami.
